Connecting your social accounts
SIGNAL reads your analytics through each platform’s official API. You connect your own accounts, using your own platform app, so nothing is waiting on anyone’s approval queue.
Why you create your own app
Platforms only require a lengthy review when strangers connect through someone else’s app. Connecting your own account through your own app is the standard, documented path — approved automatically, working the same afternoon.
It also means your data flows through credentials you control, on your own rate limits, and you can revoke our access at the platform without asking us.
Pick a platform
Ordered by how long each takes. Bluesky needs no app at all — a good first one if you just want to see it working.
Bluesky
about 2 minNo developer app, no OAuth, no review. The easiest connection by a wide margin — worth starting here to see the product working.
X (Twitter)
about 10 minThe quickest to set up and the only one that costs money. There is no review queue — but the free tier cannot read analytics.
LinkedIn
about 15 minStraightforward, with one catch: you need a LinkedIn Company Page, and personal profiles cannot be connected at all.
Pinterest
about 15 minTrial access is granted immediately and is enough to read your own analytics.
Instagram & Facebook
about 20 minOne app covers Instagram, Facebook and Threads. The fiddly part is not the app — it is that Instagram must be a Business or Creator account linked to a Facebook Page.
TikTok
about 20 minUses a sandbox model: your app starts in a sandbox, and accounts must be added to it individually. That is fine when the accounts are yours.
YouTube
about 20 minGoogle Cloud rather than a social developer portal. Publishing the consent screen needs verification — but Testing mode allows 100 users and needs none.
